Completely made in Scotland. The Balmoral Doublet is a formal Victorian-style jacket and waistcoat - a classic design in Socttisah Highlandwear - but one that was supplanted by the Argyll and the Prince Charlie in the early twentieth century. Now enjoying something of a renaissance, we can make this timeless set for you in either barathea (fine wool), tweed, or even velvet.

The Balmoral can be worn with or without a waistcoat. The front is closable, so you can either wear it closed without waistcoat, or open with the waistcoat.

You can customise almost every aspect of this doublet using the drop-down menus above. You can use the text box to make any other requests.

Measuring advice:

  • Chest: measure around the chest at under-arm height, over the widest part, while wearing a shirt or t-shirt, with your arms by your side.
  • Waist: measure around the waist at roughly naval height - in line with the top of the hips. *This is higher than where your trousers sit*. Let us know if you're wearing your kilt when you do this, as it can sometimes add to your waist or act as a girdle.
  • Sleeve length: find a suit jacket you already own that fits well, and measure from the shoulder seam down to the cuff. We can check this against your height.
  • Back length: measure from the nape of the neck (where the top of your shirt sits) to an inch-and-a-half below where the top of your kilt sits. We use this, the sleeve length and your height to work out a proportional back length for the jacket. If you have an exact measurement for the back (ie if you've taken it from a well fitting doublet, from the collar seam to bottom) please let us know in the additional instructions box

This item is made to order in our own tailoring workshop in Glasgow, Scotland. Lead time is indicated in the drop-down menu.
