For a different look to your usual tartan, why not try a tweed kilt? This allows a wide range of different outfit options, and also allows you to match your kilt jacket.
A full tweed kilt, available in a wide range of patterns. As with all our kilts, this garment is Made in Scotland by our own trained kilt makers.
The kilt is machine stitched and hand finished from 8 yards of genuine tweed, lined with canvas and has 3 leather straps to ensure an excellent fit. Tweed is slightly heavier than a heavyweight kilt.
Note that as tweed doesn't have a kilting selvedge, it needs to be hemmed at the bottom of the kilt. This requires a stitch running through the fabric (blind stitching we would normally use isn't strong enough for these thicker fabrics), although we'll blend this in with the pattern of the cloth, to make is as discreet as possible.
Don't see a tweed you like? Get in contact and we can see what we can do.
Kilt pin and sporran may be purchased separately.
Measuring advice:
- Waist: measure firmly around waist at navel (belly button) height.
- Seat: measure around the largest part of the seat area.
- Kilt Length: measure from the top of the hip at navel height to the top or middle of the knee. As a rule of thumb, your kilt length should be no shorter than a third of your height. It's always best to get someone to help with this measurement, as you'll lean forward and shorten the length when doing it yourself.
- Height: provide this in feet and inches.
Don't worry if these seems daunting, it's not as hard as it might sound! We have many years experience making kilts for people of all sizes, and will check with you if anything seems unusual.
